Polish Pottery is hand crafted with pride at a small manufacturing company in Boleslawiec, Poland. The Polish art is sure to please all who enjoy traditional folk art style. All of the pieces are hand painted, using natural sponge found in the Baltic Sea to paint the art on each piece.
All of the patterns are hand-cut by the artists in the sponge and then they use the sponges to apply the unique pattern to each piece. Sponges are used because they keep the paint wet for a long time, allowing the artist to slowly go around one piece at a time, stamping a unique specific pattern.
Several of the artists will create the initial pattern and hand paint a pattern, so all of the artists know what each pattern will be and can keep a similar style to the completed pieces.
Polish Pottery has been based on the outstanding old traditions of the local potters making Polish Pottery, especially the original under-glaze stamp and brush ornamentation, which can be seen on the hand-formed dishes of the finest quality clays. It connects the esthetic with the everyday-use elements, in great harmony. Each Polish Pottery product is a unique masterpiece, with the art of fire-glazing creating its original and extraordinary form.
Polish Pottery is famous for its beautiful shape, rich ornamentation and being fired at very high temperatures (over 1250°C) which guarantees impermeability, durability and resistance to any damage when the Polish Pottery tableware is used in microwaves, ovens, or dishwashers. Polish Pottery products are free from any cadmium or lead additives, and safe ecological glazes are used for ornamenting purposes. Our Polish Pottery assortment is very rich, sumptuous, and diverse. Older Boleslawiec ceramics patterns have endured in many households as an integral part of the Silesian culture, and the dishes have a great sentimental value to Poles and Germans.
